This is an interpretation of the primordial Greek goddess Ananke as interpreted through my rat theme. She sits on a Rowan branch, thick with berries, and holds a needle threaded with rope.
Scratchboard and watercolor. 4x12ish.
“I Have a Lonely Heart”
This rat is very sad. I started making these rats last year after having a few dreams of myself as a rat. I am still making rats now.
Scratchboard, about 6”x10” I think
Progress of the rat and the rowan branch (it hasn’t been titled yet). 1am, and I’m “pecking” out the background at this point. This progressing piece is the first piece to be completed after a long drought of not being able to work. I’m looking ravishing as usual as a denizen of the night wearing no makeup, no fancy hair, and a hint (a dark spot, look for it even though I try to hide it!) of the tumor/cyst/sentient coral I’ve nicknamed “Hank” on my right cheek.
This is me. I’m breaking an art drought with this rat. I haven’t made much art for awhile due to feeling off balance and burned out. Here’s hoping for a new start!
